Bt Young Scientists

The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition is much more than a competition; it is an unforgettable experience for the students who take part. The exhibition itself is the final stage in the competition which is open to all second level students from Ireland, both North and South.

This year Coláiste Éinde entered a project called ‘Seaweed: The Green Gold of our Future’. The three involved, Tobias Ritter, Ross McDonagh and Conall Maguire under the watchful eye of their teacher Dr. Lockett, proposed that we could start harvesting seaweed from the coast and use it to produce a cheap and renewable biofuel.

In conjunction with The National University Of Ireland, Galway many hours of research and experiments were undertaken to produce some very positive results to support their claim.

An extremely educational experience for those involved which shows that the future is bright for these young innovators.
