Great Achievement at Poetry Aloud Competition

The Connaught heats of the Poetry Aloud (Poetry Speaking) Competition which is run by the National Library & Poetry Ireland, were held in Coláiste Éinde on the 19th of October.Coláiste Éinde once again had great success at the competition with four students being chosen to go through to the final in Dublin. These are:

  • Daniel Mulcahy…..Senior
  • Macdara Maguire…..Senior
  • Suzanna Chalecka….Junior
  • CianSiggins……Intermediate

The competition, which attracts a large entry from schools around the country, involves the participants being asked to speak two poems from memory and deliver them in a meaningful way. There are provincial heats followed by a semi-final and the final which will be held in Dublin this year on the 22nd& 23rd November. The competition is comprised of three sections, Junior, Intermediate and Senior with an eventual overall winner.

Congratulations and best of luck to all students concerned and to their mentor, teacher Gerry Hanberry.
