Talent Show 2013
Coláiste Éinde celebrated some of the many talents of the students in our school recently with three sell out performances in this year’s annual Coláiste Éinde Talent show.
There were four overall prizewinning categories. Owen Oseghale from 2nd yr won the first prize in the junior cycle category with his amazing beat boxing abilities, and Niamh Tierney from 1st yr blew the crowds away with her delightful drumming demonstration. The coveted first place in the senior cycle category went to those “Gentlemen of the Road” aka Robert Butler, Gary Cooney and Ruairí Ryan with their very enthusiastic banjo strumming, double bass plucking and guitar rendition of “Mumford and Sons” song ‘I will wait’. Although she’s only new to the school, Hannah O’Leary’s impassioned rendition of ‘Girl on Fire’ by Alicia Keys impressed the students enough to garner her the second prize in the senior cycle.
Well done to all 16 acts who competed in this year’s show. A big thank you also to our MC’s Conor Curran and Colie McDonagh, to the Show Choir and to Sinéad Flaherty, Rachel Collins and Kristi Kavaja for their essential stage-hand help! A very special mention to Ann-Marie Maughan (1st yr) and Doyen Adebayo (2nd yr) for teaching us all a new and valuable talent!
Míle Buíochas!
Ms. O’Leary & Mr. Purcell
Sunni Mae Trust
Coláiste Éinde has a long and proud tradition of supporting different charities and Coláiste Éinde’s Talent Show was delighted to support Claregalway girl Lily-Mae Morrison, who is suffering from Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a rare and extremely aggressive childhood cancer of the nervous system. The Talent Show raised a total of €1,523.50, of which half the proceeds go to our own school development fund, while the other half goes to The Sunni Mae Trust. The students from this years Talent show presented Stephen Macken, producer of Tiny Dancer ‘A Song for Lily-Mae’ with a cheque for €760 for the Sunni Mae Trust, in aid of Lily-Mae Morrison.
