BOYS
First Year:
Mr B Fahy
This team has trained every Wednesday since the beginning of term. Up to 30 boys are training with this team and they have shown excellent commitment and skill to date. We participated in a blitz in St. Mary’s early in the first term. We have won all our matches to date and have qualified for the Connacht Semi-final in Connacht Colleges C.
Second Year:
Mr.S Gormley:
This is the first year we have entered a team specifically for second years. The aim of the competition is to cater for boys who would not be old or strong enough to play on the Juvenile Team. We train every Thursday at lunch time and our games will be played after Christmas.
Juvenile Football:
Mr P Conway
The Juvenile Gaelic Football team train on Mondays and some Wednesdays. This team is competing in the Connacht Colleges Juvenile C competition. One game has been played to date which we unfortunately lost to Scoil Chuimsitheach An Cheathrú Rua.
Junior Football:
Mr K Johnson
The Junior Gaelic football team train at lunchtime on Thursday. We are competing in Connacht Colleges Junior Championship. This year it is a combined league and championship. We lost our first match to Glenamaddy and the other matches will be played after Christmas.
Senior Football:
Mr F Morris
The senior team train with the Junior team every Thursday. We were unlucky to lose our Connacht Championship match against Castlerea, County Roscommon by 3 points. This team will take part in a Galway City League to be played after Christmas.
GIRLS
First Year Girls
Ms E Cryan , Ms C Butler, Ms Ní Chéide
We participated in a one-day blitz with 35 first year girls representing our school. We divided into two teams with both teams winning 2 out of 3 matches.
Junior Girls
Ms E Cryan , Ms C Butler, Ms Ní Chéide
Junior Girls Gaelic team have played six matches this season against Ros Muc, An Cheathrú Rua, Coláiste Colm Cille,Corr na Móna, Coláiste Chroí Mhuire an Spidéal winning all six games leaving us top of the group. The Connacht Quarter-final will be played after Christmas.
Under 14
Ms E Cryan , Ms C Butler, Ms Ní Chéide
We played 4 games in our group, drawing against the Pres, Galway, losing to Headford and the Pres Tuam and wining against Calasanctus College Oranmore. We will not precede any further in this competition. However we have a lot of younger players on this team that will be eligible for next year.
