Mental Health Awareness Week

The week of 30th January –3rd February saw Coláiste Éinde embrace all things healthy with a huge range of activities organised. Each break time saw various healthy foods & activities being offered for free to promote a healthy lifestyle both in body and mind. Large groups of students attended each activity which is testament to the success of this very important and topical matter.

Activities on offer ranged from Mindfulness sessions, Yoga, Dance, teamwork exercises to name but a few. All of 1st years took part in the 1 Mile sprint challenge around the school grounds with amazing times being recorded. To quench your thirst students could also avail of freshly made smoothies at the smoothie bar.

The school also hosted a very inspirational talk by Eoghan Clifford, a gold and bronze medal winner at the Rio Paralympics on the importance of healthy living, finding the right balance between work/study and exercise and on how to have a good mental attitude towards every aspect of life.

On Thursday evening parents were invited to partake in a workshop entitled ‘Looking after the Mental Wellbeing of Teenagers’.  This event was very well attended and feedback from parents has been overwhelmingly positive.  A non-uniform day in aid of Youthwork Ireland was held on the Friday with students being invited to wear orange to symbolise their openness to talking about their own mental wellbeing.
